Everything leads to the same thing… money. The root of so many problems. To be precise, greed. Stuff. Things. Love of power. Materialism. You get the idea, I hope. Maybe other pages here talk about it in greater detail. Today I’m getting straight to the point.
Purpose of today’s writing session (do at least some of this):
- See which money dependencies I have
- See how I can remove them
- See which equipment, tools and skills I’ll need
Let’s start!
Dependencies
- Water: Water costs m0ney here! You can get some for no payment in a restaurant, but they do pay for the water they give you.
- Land: Although we’re given the entire Earth as a gift for using and sharing and enjoying, some people have decided they can “own” pieces of land as if they were sold to them by nature. Countries own their land, and even the seas around these lands. Having a piece of land to sit on usually requires to pay m0ney to someone (or go to jail). I am currently renting an appartment, and a considerable chunk of my income is lost every moth due to rent fees.
- Food: All my food comes from the supermarket, which requires money of course. And healthy good nutritious food costs more than unhealthy junk food.
- Clothes: I don’t need new clothes at the moment, but most of the ones I have were bought for m0ney (if I recall correctly, everything except for 2 scarfs). If I need new ones later, I’ll need m0ney again unless I figure out how to make them by myself.
- Shelter: Again, the rented appartment. But land alone is not shelter. You still need a warm place in the winter and maybe a cool place in the summer. You need a safe place to sleep in, to work in, to live in. Even a tent can be enough. But there has to be something. And currently I’m renting an appartment and it costs a lot of m0ney.
- Computer: My computer needs electricity and sometimes old parts need to be fixed and replaced with new ones. Also, the internet connection that allows me to access the network and run a server costs m0ney. And the external services I use (e-mail provider, domain name, wikipedia, software projects) depend on money, in particular donations.
- Education: University costs a lot of m0ney. Books cost m0ney. The internet helps a lot, but the connection and electricity for the computer cost m0ney.
- Writing: Paper costs m0ney. Pencils, pens and notebooks cost m0ney.
- Phone: Telephone and cellphone cost m0ney. Both the device and usage of the network for actual calls.
