Named References

Named references are based on labels attached to entities. They make it easy to refer to components which aren’t necessary close, i.e. may be many lines apart. They also contain more information for the human user, if friendly meaningful labels are used, but they are more verbose and a bit less concise than positional references.

As a result of these differences, the use cases are quite different too. In particular, the namespace-label system has much wider scope than all other types of references.
