Directives
Directives are declarations in an Idan document which don’t express statements. They are a tool for usage when expressing statements, somewhat like C preprocessor directives or like template meta-programming, but much less sophisticated.
The directives’ syntax forms use keywords, and these can be localized to human languages using the tools provided by Kadma. The examples in this section will use English localizations.
As with many other localizations, keywords can have global and local translations. There are also fallback symbols which are part of the Idan syntax itself. By default, only global localizations are available. If the language directive is used, the localizations for that language become available too.
Each directive by default has effect only on the declarations made below it in the Idan document. However there may be types of directives which apply to the entire file, regardless of location. These details are specified in their descriptions under this section. There may also be restrictions on the number of times a directive can be specified (usually either once or an unlimited number of times).
In the templates given for describing the directives, keywords are specified between %
signs, with English localizations inside. This makes the specification clearer than using the fallback symbols.
